Sun Flower - "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways"

A red sunflower, a solar deity. It's circumference to the sun is perfect to the golden ratio. This mature sunflower stays facing east not like the younger ones who chase the sun all day long. One day a young girl walking through the meadows was dreaming about love. She had fallen for someone but did not know how the other felt. In the soft warm breeze a butterfly whispered past her face and landed on a beautiful red sunflower. She walked closer to the flower and gazed at it "a flower this beautiful must be true if asked a question of love. For the butterfly guided me to this flower so that I may too metamorphosis and spread my wings and dance in the sun." Suddenly a gust of wind took the butterfly and it disapeared amongst the trees. The young girl's hand reach over to a petal and picked it. Then she began to pick each petal off one by one saying, "How do I love thee? let me count the ways;" "love me, love me not...". As she approached the last petal her heart quickend. "Love me!!!" She rolled in the grass with her arms streched out to the sun and kissed the flower goodbye. The sunflower laid in the tall green grass tired and withered trying to reach for the sun. Each seed from it's crown and glory began to fall to the ground. The earth's fertile soil would lay to rest the seeds and in time the flower would give birth to itself again. For the last petal of the flower had spoken to the young girl saying,..... love me

Today Is Your Day!

Just listening to this song makes my day!

Not just a glass of water

The powers that bestow in a glass of water may very well be the miracle that was called upon Moses to part the Red Sea or Jesus for turning water into wine.
Water acts as a conductor to our electrical impulses through thoughts and emotions. Dr Masaru Emoto a scientist from Japan has experimented the effects of human consciousness on the molecular structure of water. In his findings the power of prayer, thought, music, and words can change the structure of molecules. We human are about 70% water, just think of the kind of molecules we are producing by the very thoughts and emotions we carry each day. Throwing a penny into wishing well may not be so crazy after all. The penny (metallic solid) allow ions or electrons to move freely in the water with the intension of the person's wish. Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

William Shakespeare Serenades to me

I was single and free spirited. A musician going in no particular direction. I was seeking serenity in this freedom of mine only to discover a self delusion of love. Then I remembered a quote by William Shakespeare "Give me some music; music, moody food Of us that trade in love". For love cometh in the eye of the beholder that can not see his or her true reflection. Let the music feed thy empty heart sow as to reap a full moon to the howling of dogs. As the moon casts it's shadow so be the trading of love. How can a person merge the light and the darkness to eclipes the radiant love that is within? Could sending out a serenade attract a moth to a flame or will it echo back from a mountain not yet climbed.

Drumming up the Imagination

My mind twirls through the trees and bushes looking for hidden treasure or maybe even fairies. Purple and yellow flowers give off beautiful fragrances of friendship while the breeze whispers in my ear intimate secrets of long ago. Everything that exists seen and unseen has been recorded in every living cell including our cellular memory. Everybody has a story to tell including trees. Trees have their own identity deep within their trunks just as we have deep within our hearts. The rings inside of a tree trunk are not just rings they hold information just like a vinyl record on a record player. Those deep lines have recorded information. Unfortunately we don't have a record player to play those tree rings. Locked up in the trunk is an intelligence and life giving force. What kind of encoded message or sound could it tell us about the world around us and about ourselves?

Drumming Emergency!

Two weeks ago I took an Occupational First Aid course. I thought this would be a good skill to learn. As usual I started off with my zestful optimistic self. This is going to be easy, no sweat. Well, it was far from easy it was intense! I studied every night 4-5 hours to the point my brain was ready to explode!. When it was time to go through some emergency scenarios I found myself screwing up over and over again. I was getting frustrated and it only got worse. The trouble was I was trying too hard. The harder I tried the worse it got. This seems to be a pattern I sometimes fall into. I recently discovered a book written by Dr. James Richards called Wired for Success Programmed for Failure, in the book it says TRYING is making a statement to the HEART that you are NOT what you BELIEVE you are . The harder you try to convince yourself what you are the more the Heart thinks your not. This was very profound to me. I would get hard on myself if I didn't get it right away. It just kept compounding to the point my brain just froze like a computer. I was thinking too much and not trusting or believing in the process, not going with the flow. During my course I was in a car accident that gave me whip-lash. That certainly slowed me down. Life sure has a way of showing you what you need. I realized that I had gotten caught up with the mind and not the heart to carry me through. Drumming reminded me to follow the beat of my heart. I was in cardiac arrest and now my heart is beating to the flow of life. Next time I try something new I will gently remind myself to breath and believe in myself, that my heart will guide me. The mind (ego) can be treacherous, down right insane!

Drumming with Nature

Finally! it's July and it seems to have taken a long time to get here. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to take my hand drum to the beach and connect to the rhythm of nature. I find a private and comfortable spot in the sand and light my incense stick. I listen to my surroundings; breeze, seagulls, and the ocean waves. Nature becomes my conductor but not in the formal sense. There is nothing formal about nature only true harmony and complete freedom. The beauty of nature creates a feeling of oneness. Being at one with my drum helps me to integrate with nature and the biological rhythms within myself.
I warm my drum up by pointing it towards the sun. As I begin to tap on the drum, the sun has filled it with beautiful tones and oil slick colours. My hands begin to play in this kaleidoscope of sound until it finds a song.

"A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song "
